Psychological assessment and testing

Psychological assessment and testing – Warsaw

A personality assessment may prove useful for people who are reflecting on how they function. Certain personality traits may make life seem less than satisfying, leading one to ponder the reasons behind their behaviour. Taking a closer look at one’s own dominant traits can bring one closer to answering the questions one asks oneself about who one really is. The results and conclusions drawn from the assessment can support the psychotherapeutic process or psychiatric treatment, or they may help in deciding whether to seek specialist support.

The assessment utilises the MMPI-2 and SCID-5-PD psychological questionnaires, alongside a psychological interview.

MMPI-2 – what is it?

The MMPI-2 (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) is one of the most reliable tools used by psychiatrists and psychologists to assess the functioning of the person being assessed and their perception of reality. This self-report questionnaire is regarded as one of the most comprehensive diagnostic tools.

It is intended for use with individuals aged 18 and over.

What is it used for?

The MMPI-2 questionnaire enables the assessment of the degree of personality organisation, as well as the preliminary diagnosis or exclusion of depressive, psychotic or anxiety disorders. It can be used to assess the effectiveness of therapy.

SCID-5-PD – what is it?

The SCID-5-PD (Structured Clinical Interview for Personality Disorders) is a tool for assessing disturbances in self-perception, emotional regulation or interpersonal relationships that affect an individual’s functioning. It is designed in accordance with the DSM-5 international classification of mental disorders.

It is intended for use with individuals aged 18 and over.

What is its purpose?

The SCID-5-PD is a tool that enables the assessment and diagnosis of 10 personality disorders in Clusters A, B and C according to the DSM-5.

Structured in this way, the assessment provides a wealth of information about the individual’s functioning, enables the preliminary diagnosis of depressive, anxiety or psychotic disorders, and also allows for the diagnosis or exclusion of personality disorders or a functional pattern indicative of a particular disorder.

Diagnostics and psychological assessments – What does the whole process involve?

At the Holipsyche centre, the entire assessment process consists of three or four stages/sessions:

1. Initial consultation (50 mins) – during this session, we will assess whether the assessment can be carried out (each diagnostic tool has its own limitations and contraindications). A psychological interview will be conducted, which is essential for interpreting the test, and information about subsequent sessions will be provided.

2. Test administration (2h/3h) – the next session will be devoted to explaining the instructions and the examinee completing the questionnaires. The examiner is present throughout the test to answer any questions that arise and provide support should the need arise.

3. Final consultation (30 mins) – during the final session, the test-taker will be presented with the results and the conclusions drawn from them. The test-taker will receive a written report.

Total cost of the process: 1200zł

Initial consultation: 200zł

Test administration and final consultation: 1000zł (payment to be made before the second appointment)

Psychological assessment and testing – Interpretation of results

The interpretation is based on an analysis of individual test items, the results of individual scales, an assessment of their intensity and co-occurrence, and an analysis of the information obtained during the interview, which is conducted at the first consultation.
